An early summer of 2012 release from the owner of Parisian label, MEANT.
Remain has become a close friend of mine since I discovered his work on his label about two years ago. He has more recently appeared on Throne of Blood, My Favorite Robot and soon to be Ideal Audio.
The Beast has the now distinctive sound of Clouded Vision, a track that is hard to put into a genre on Beatport, a slow, sex-disco track with the repeating vocal “Test”.
Remixes come firstly from Bristol’s Lukas, one of the main artists from the ultra hyped Futureboogie. His version of production partner Christophe’s “The Force” became one of my Top 10 most played records of last year, so I was desperate to get him on the label. It’s the most clear-cut house record of the mixes, but still with an edge to it that I love about his work.
Secondly owner of Italy’s “Slow Motion Records” Franz Underwear lays down a driving analogue disco groove on The Beast. Franz’s track on World Unknown last year titled Grauzone was another of my festival favourites and I was honoured when he agreed to do the mix.
Lastly is my tip for 2013, Belgian youngster DC Salas. He is also one half of Polar, who earlier this year released an excellent EP on Tim Paris’s Marketing Music. His mix has a relentless bass line and reverb-riddled breakdown that comes back to get you not just once, but twice. It has been a staple late night track for me over the last few months alongside his excellent “Gimme” on Petfood. Watch out for more original material from him on CV later in the year.
Matt Walsh.

Avanti - Parallel Universe

Gazeebo International is pleased to welcome Daniel Quiroz & Gabriel Eugenio or better known as Avanti to the label. We first got turned onto this hi-fi Mexican duo last year and they immediately caught our attention with there razor sharp cosmic output. Several months ago we received a demo from them and if we said we were impressed we'd be lying, we were blown away. They really understood our sound and we immediately invited them to come aboard. Avanti expressed to us how much they enjoyed the Gazeebo "Made In Mars" LP and after hearing they're demo we knew that this was going to be an exciting collaboration. They're unique brand of cosmic dance music has not only inspired us but it has also allowed us to see a sharper more refined look at what Made In Mars represents.
"Night Flight" is a blast off into the future of space disco and serves as just a glimpse of what Avanti has in store for this scene. They're approach to music production is not conventional nor it is easily replicable, we know this sound well and we know what it takes to produce it. It can take weeks of reworking cutoff sweeps, arp & bass sequences and delay time signatures over and over till it sounds good. And it's clearly obvious that Avanti takes the time to do it right. "Night Flight" comes correct with 4 original tunes from the duo, all worthy of favoritism and a bonus remix from Gazeebo himself to round out the EP.
Almost unnoticed these two young Mexican producers have been gathering quite the disco and house repertoire. It only took a remix with Bottin for Beppe Loda on Nang Records for the world to take notice and embrace their funky cosmic disco. Not long after, label head & disco don Ilya Santana released their Avanti EP with his own Santa Esperanza Records. Avanti's love for music slaves them to their machines and their output is as fierce and prolific as you would expect from the best. You'd be wise to keep a watchful eye on their live dates as well as releases on Pizzico Records & Santa Esperanza, all set for early 2012. More collaborations with Gazeebo and Avanti are already underway so we'll keep you posted on those.
"Night Flight" is scheduled for release on March 8th 2012 exclusively at Juno Download, Traxsource and Beatport.

Kindness - Gee Up

Unhealthy would probably be the word to describe the amount of repeat listens we’ve already racked up on east Londoner-via-Berlin Adam Bainbridge’s solo project Kindness. Each of his songs (we’d recommend Cyan and SEOD) come over all soft and gooey on the inside, but with a beat terse enough that they almost present as something that could be directly played out at a party. Cosmic Kids come to the rescue in this respect with a minor edit that does wonders. We’re all very excited for the Kindness album due in the next few months, entirely because Adam practically harassed Phillipe Zdar to work with him on it.

Cadillac - Too Long (Daft Punk Cover)

Le Coq Sportif and Future Classic are back with their series of Australian covers of classic French artists.
The third instalment in the series is Melbourne/Sydney band Cadillac doing their take on Daft Punk's seminal early naughties house number "Too Long".
Daft Punk are one of dance music's most influential acts. Their 3 timeless albums - Homework, Discovery and Human After All - spawned classic tracks including "One More Time", "Da Funk", "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger", "Around the World" and "Something About Us" that are considered a huge contributor to the formation of French and filter house scenes and have gone on to shape where dance music is today.
Cadillac's cover of "Too Long" pulls the tempo down, brings out the tropical mallets, brings the same catchy bass line's and crooning vocals that you remember from the original.
Feel free to pass around to friends!
