Waiting for the first serie of edit called "The Crazy World of Italo Italians" , including Dj Rocca, The Time and Space Machine and Fab Mayday, I decided to edit of one my favourites 60's tracks, a proper floorfiller: Shake by Shadows of night. I've been respectful of the original.

Drop Out Orchestra • ITALOITALIANS EVENT• INTERVIEW

If this Halloween weekend wasn't enough for ya, come hang out this Friday night at Urban Club - Perugia for another rendition of ItaloItalians. This month, residents FabMayDay e Lorenzo Lavoratori  will be joined by Drop Out Orchestra, disco addicted from Danemark.

What’s the meaning of Drop Out Orchstra? Why did you choose this name for your project?

It's a statement. We've decided not to take part in the usual dance music industry B-S, we only play music we like and remix songs we love. We're industry dropouts.

Which are your plans for the future? Have you got any new upcoming releases, remixes? Tour, etc. ?

We're currently travelling around Europe, enjoying every minute of it. "It Will Never Be The Same Again", a new original from us, is out October 24th on Eskimo Records as part of Aeroplane's "In Flight Entertainment" compilation. We also have a 12" of edits and reworks out early November.

Did you already play in Italy? What is it that you like about our country?

No not yet! Milano on Saturday will be our first gig in Italy, then we're playing Rome and Perugia soon. Can't wait to sample some authentic italian food.

Which are the Italian artists that you know and like?

Well... how long have you got? I started buying disco records in the early 80s, and almost every one was italian. Today I'm very impressed with people like Ajello, The Heels of Love and a recent discovey - Rambla Boys.

Who is your favourite dj of all the time?

Oh that's tough. If you ask me about someone I heard recently that's a lot easier - Solomun is by far the best DJ I've heard this year.

ITALOITALIANS PRESENTS •MUSTANG• [ MIX&INTERVIEW ]

·       What’s the meaning of Mustang? Why did you choose this name for your project?

In fact, there’s no real meaning… We are not especially cars lovers (ok, a Mustang is a great car and I’d love to have one but…) the same for horse riding, it is not really our thing (especially Renaud, who had some bad experiences with horses…)

When we were looking for a name (hardest period in our life !), after some ridiculous and not so fancy ideas, Renaud woke up with “Mustang” on his mind… It was like a revelation. We talked about this together and Andy said “I had the same vision last night”… and we don’t eat magic-mushrooms : ) 

Sincerely, I always feared answering that question. 

·      Which are your plans for the future? Have you got any new upcoming releases, remixes? Tour, etc. ?

Our forthcoming EP called « Shooting Love » will be released on Different Recordings, the 17th of October with a Jeremy Glenn and a Black Strobe remix. 

During the summer we remixed a track for Arnaud Rebotini who will be out in September on K7 ! Records, equal for Crystal Fighters « Champion Sound » who will be released around the end of October trough Different Recordings, our previous label. We’re very excited about these releases because the crowd reaction is huge when we play them out! 

Regarding tours & dates, we have some gigs planned in Switzerland, France, Denmark, Lebanon, Italia, U.K… We will not be in our home town Brussels a lot in the next coming months…

·      Did you already play in Italy? What is it that you like about our country?

Yes, our first gig outside Belgium was in Italy ! We played in Torino. We also had a great gig some months ago in Bressanone.  That was an exceptional night, the crowd we met in Italy was always super friendly and very reactive ! Both of us are two big Italian food lovers and Renaud spended loads of his holiday’s in Italy before … A true love story : )

·      Which are the Italian artists that you know and like?

Lucio Battisti is our Italian idol !!! But we are also impresses by the talent of Giorgio. On the new scène, we love Rodion and his analog sound. And a spécial mention for our friends Severino Panzetta from Horse Meat Disco and Stephen « The Magician »,  both one of the best dj’s on earth  who have Italian blood in there veins ! 

·      Who is your favourite dj of all the time? 

Wow, it’s very hard to choose one ! But probably Erol Alkan is one of the best, as he can play anything and always turns the dance floor upside down

Fans of divine disco have long had the name DjHarvey on their lips and in their iPods. The UK expat, whose been hiding out in LA for a decadeor so, is an undisputed master of the rare record—dropping tracks you’d kill fo at his Sarcastic Disco parties. Even though he’s been at it since the ’90s, Harvey’s name is becoming a lot more known in 2011, thanks in part to his new Locussolus project dropping in June. In the meantime, there’s some choice remixes on the way from Andrew Weatherall, Lindstrom & Prins Thomas and Soul Clap. Today, we have a nice slow jam edit of “Little Boots” from Emperor Machine.
