Le Coq Sportif and Future Classic are back with their series of Australian covers of classic French artists.

The third instalment in the series is Melbourne/Sydney band Cadillac doing their take on Daft Punk's seminal early naughties house number "Too Long".

Daft Punk are one of dance music's most influential acts. Their 3 timeless albums - Homework, Discovery and Human After All - spawned classic tracks including "One More Time", "Da Funk", "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger", "Around the World" and "Something About Us" that are considered a huge contributor to the formation of French and filter house scenes and have gone on to shape where dance music is today.

Cadillac's cover of "Too Long" pulls the tempo down, brings out the tropical mallets, brings the same catchy bass line's and crooning vocals that you remember from the original.

Instead of putting promos & new tracks on it I've gone completely retro. 10 tracks I've edited, retweaked, shuffled, beefed up and somewhat ruined for you all to enjoy. Some of these I've made for myself for when I play out in clubs and some of them just specially for this mix. A mix of disco, soul, pop and italo tunes from the 70s and 80s; some well known ones, a couple of more obscure tracks and also one or two slightly guilty pleasures, but all updated and modernised for the future. Which is now. not now, but......

Andrew Weatherall, long time producer and remixer who has worked with the likes of Primal Scream, New Order, My Bloody Valentine, and Bjork, remixed "Crossing". Pete Kember, also known as Sonic Boom of Spacemen 3/Spectrum fame contributed "Wiking Stew (aka Red Krayola-ing)". When Pete was called in to help master the record he was inspired by the album and made this mash up from West on his own. Last but not least is the track "Ursus Maritimus (Last Bear's Lament)", a long distance collaboration with kandodo (otherwise known as Simon Price from The Heads). Ripley created the bed of the track in Colorado in between tours and sent if off to Simon, in London. Simon added all the additional instrumentation at his home studio.

Remix Ian Hunter (Mott The Hoople) 'BASTARD' AMO1 EDIT

This is an edit from back in the Mountain Of One days... an old track I discovered on a Mot The Hoople / Ian Hunter compilation that we gave a nip and tuck and added loads of dub delays and drums to... I've remastered it with a bit more bottom end and it's sounding much better for it - only previously available on a limited 12" but here's a nice .wav download for you good people.... he sounds just like Shawn Ryder at the end of this with his drawling vocal... such a great find.

Appaloosa - Patchwork (ATTAR! Dub Remix)

Appaloosa belong to a kind of bands that only write beautiful songs. Some to make you dance, some just to listen, but all of them to make you fall in love with Anne-Laure Keib's voice.

Philosophy of what? What do you get when you combine a master's degree in philosophy with a love of dance and electronic music production, and throw in a finalist position at the International Songwriting Competition not to mention a fascination with the latest forms of disco influenced sounds? A project called Philosophy Of Sound - expect to hear hot disco guitar licks, booty shaking bass and a selection of some of Melbourne's most intriguing vocalists.
Philosophy Of Sound is the musical brainchild of two Melbourne based producers - Martin K and John Salmon. Martin is a philosopher turned music producer originally hailing from Poland, who after spending some time in his other project Koshowko has decided to start a ’beyond-disco’ side project. John has an international background as a DJ and producer.
Over the last few years both have been working in close collaboration with various electronic and dance labels and artists, which has led to many remixes and releases on several labels in both Australia and Europe.
"It Is Like That" is Philosophy Of Sound debut single and is part of a three releases plan that Discotexas will unveil in the following months. They've been a secret well hidden, but they are no more. Cause... "It Is Like That"
